HERITAGE SCUGOG AWARDS


The Heritage Scugog Committee presented its Heritage Scugog Awards at the third annual Scugog Heritage Night on Nov. 17, 2009. These awards were given out to acknowledge, recognize and reward the hard work that goes on in Scugog to preserve and promote our heritage.
The award categories are:

Architectural Conservation & Craftsmanship Award
For excellence in the preservation or adaptive reuse of a building 40 years or older.

Media Award
For a work of non-fiction about Scugog’s archeological, built, cultural and/or natural heritage. Projects such as films, websites, maps and exhibits are eligible.

Publication & Research Award
For a work of non-fiction about Scugog’s archeological, built, cultural and/or natural heritage.

Agricultural Heritage Award
Recognizes an individual or group that has worked to preserve and promote Scugog’s agricultural heritage.

Heritage Integration Award
Recognizes a sensitive addition to a heritage building or modern infill building that is complementary to the heritage character of a specific area.

Mayor’s Community Heritage Award
Awarded to a volunteer-based organization that promotes or protects heritage within Scugog.

2009 Heritage Scugog Award Winners

Architectural Conservation and Craftsmanship Award
Presented to Tom and Dale Roe for their hard work on preserving a heritage building (88 Crandell Street)that is a significant piece of Port Perry’s history.

Media Award
Presented to North Durham Photographers for their Historic Barns Exhibit.

Publication and Research Award
Presented to the Roy E. Carter Memorial Park Committee.

Agricultural Heritage Award
Awarded to the Port Perry Farmers Market Committee.

Mayor’s Community Heritage Award
Presented to the Greenbank Public School Anniversary Committee upon celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Ontario Heritage Trust Community Recognition Programs

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS!
Deadline: September 10, 2010


The Ontario Heritage Trust is seeking nominations for individuals in the community that have made a significant contribution to the promotion, preservation or protection of Ontario's heritage. Those selected receive a certificate of recognition and a pin honouring their service. Individuals have been recognized for leadership of natural heritage conservation and restoration projects, long-standing voluntary service to local heritage organizations, production of local history publications and participation of heritage buildings.
