Scugog Youth Task Force
In September of 2006, Mayor Pearce and the Durham District School Board Superintendent Gloria Schwabe agreed to co-ordinate a process whereby the students of Scugog could act in an advisory capacity to the Township on issues of concern to youth. The Scugog Youth Task Force is a group of elementary and high school students ( grades 6-12) from the Township of Scugog who meet three times a year with the Mayor and the Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture to discuss items of interest to the youth as well as raising awareness of activities taking place within the educational community. The Principals of the schools are also part of the Task Force as are the Durham Region Police Inspector for North Durham and the Durham District School Board Superintendent for North Durham.
