Downtown Port Perry Heritage Conservation District Study & Approved Plan

The Township of Scugog had considered the introduction of a Heritage Conservation District (HCD) for the Downtown Port Perry area. A HCD comprises an area with a group of buildings and properties that possess a concentration of heritage resources with special character or historical association that distinguishes it from its surroundings.

When the HCD designation by-law is enacted, most external alterations and additions, new construction and building demolition within the district area will require permission from the Township.

Municipal Performance Measurements

The Municipal Performance Measurement Program (MPMP) is an initiative of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing which requires all municipalities to begin collecting data, measuring and reporting their performance in core municipal areas.

Comparisons between municipalities should be approached with an understanding that a higher or lower number does not necessarily indicate better or worse performance. Many factors including: environmental issues, geographic issues (such as the balance of rural and urban), accounting methods and allocation of corporate cost and overhead methods can affect the results for each municipality.
