September 10 – November 8, 2009 Our Past is Showing: New Art Inspired by Artifacts Scugog Shores Heritage Centre & Archives Yesterday's necessities become inspiration for today's creative expression in the inaugural exhibition at the new Scugog Heritage Centre & Archives. Drawing on inspiration from existing artifacts in the Scugog Shores Museum's collection, artists will create an original work of art which will then be displayed alongside the artifact in the gallery of the Scugog Heritage Centre, located inside the Arena at 1655 Reach Street. The exhibit is curated in partnership with the Scugog Council for the Arts. Hours are Tuesday, Thursday – Sunday from 11 am – 4 pm and Wednesday from 11 am – 8 pm. The festivities will start at the school from 1:00 to 4:30 pm. An official ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm, group photo at 3:00 pm and Social/Pub Night at the Greenbank Hall starting at 7:30 pm until midnight. A logo design contest was held and there will be t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats available for sale. Organizers are looking for old photos and memorabilia - contact Diane Lewis or Gail Sheridan for more details. Reunion package including forms for the anniversary clothing, recipe books, tickets for the Social/Pub Night and memory forms are available in Port Perry at Meta 4, Scugog Business Centre (in with the United Way), Scugog Memorial Library and Hanks Pastries.
