PITCH-IN Week April 18-24, 2011
In 2010, The Township of Scugog held it’s very successful PITCH-IN WEEK. Thousands of Canadians show their civic pride each year, cleaning up local neighbourhoods, ravines, waterways and illegal dump sites. Locally we had over 1000 registered volunteers including 9 schools, Scouts, Cubs & Beavers from Port Perry & Blackstock, service clubs & individuals. This program is a great way to promote to Canadians the importance of reducing, re-using, recycling and properly disposing of waste as everyone’s responsibility. PITCH-IN WEEK involves volunteers in various action programs ranging from initiating waste reduction, recycling and composting programs to cleaning and enhancing shorelines, streams, urban and wilderness areas.
PITCH-IN WEEK 2011 is April 18-24. Plans are underway to make this year’s efforts more successful. In order to accomplish this goal the Municipality will be contacting all Schools, Businesses, Organizations, Clubs and Associations to request their participation in this initiative to clean up our environment.
