TRANSPORTATION


The Township of Scugog has highway access to Durham Region's complex network of high-speed provincial expressways, the provincial highway system and a vast regional road system. Highway 401, Southern Ontario's major east-west expressway providing access to Montreal, Hamilton and Toronto, is less than one-half hour away from Port Perry, Scugog's principal urban area. The Township of Scugog is also served by provincial highways #12, #7, #47 and #7A, providing easy access to Peterborough, Lindsay, Orillia and other Central Ontario centres.
Durham Region's extensive regional road network provides the Township of Scugog with outstanding arterial road connections to the provincial highway system. As highway 407 and the highway 404 extension come on line, Scugog will be well positioned to offer expressway access to nearly every corner of the province.

Commuters can access GO Transit buses with linkages to rail services which provide access to Metropolitan Toronto and beyond.

Oshawa Harbour accommodates large container vessels and provides water access to the Great Lakes via the Welland Canal and the Atlantic Ocean via the St. Lawrence Seaway. Major cargo handled through this port includes coal, fuel oil, gasoline, steel, and safety salt. Railway connections are also located at Oshawa's Stevenson Marshalling Yards, providing access to Canadian National and Canadian Pacific Railway links to North American markets.
